A recovering academic, she found inspiration in teaching undergraduates, and her PhD work explored questions of individual responsibility and community relationships. Her forays into the real world span the globe and range from work with local nonprofits to help improve access to justice for victims of sexual and gender-based violence in Sierra Leone, to field interviews of young protestors during the August 2011 London riots. Marie-Aimee has now made a clean break for the real world, living in Los Angeles and advising nonprofits and social businesses on the most effective ways of achieving good.
